French Wine Producers 2018

This event was sponsored by the CIC MONTREAL with the help of CIC EST and CIC OUEST branches of Crédit Industriel et Commercial (a French financial services group) in order to promote French businesses abroad. It was held at the Montreal's Hotel Zero 1. 

All participating vineyards were family ran businesses, some with a several hundreds years of history and a timeline of many generations. The producers came to Montreal in person. All demonstrated love for their land and the real expertise in understanding their soils, their vines, the intricacies of specific wine production, this due to their hard work and France's long history and legacy of wine production.

The event was attended by the Montreal's wine professionals who appreciated to discover the new wines and learn about various vintages and the methods they were created.

The Institute of Fine Italian Wines - lIstituto del vino Italiano di Qualità - Grandi Marchi, as it is called in Italian, has once again held a wine tasting even for professionals in Montreal. The event took place at the Loft Hotel located on Sherbrooke Street.

11 wine producers participated this year:

Antinori • Argiolas • Carpenè Malvolti • Lungarotti • Masi • Mastroberardino • Michele Chiarlo • Pio Cesare • Rivera • Tasca d’Almerita • Umani Ronchi





Quebec and Canada has a great number of Italian wine lovers, and not only those who are originally from Italy. Marrying good quality and an affordable price is certainly one of the elements of the success.





A great number of the Montreal wine professionals attended this Grandi Marchi wine trade show, eager to taste the wines presented by various and distinct vineyards. 




Italian food and cheese were also offered for tasting, much appreciated by those who attended the event.

This tasting trade session in Montreal offered to the visitors a chance to discover over 100 wines from the different regions across New Zealand. Since the distinctive wine-growing regions are spread around the country, each has its own unique soils and climatic conditions that determine the wine they produce.

The event took place in the Montreal's Old Port, at the Marché Bonsecours. The wine trade tasting was preceded by a Masterclass hosted by Nadia Fournier.


The event was well attended by the wine professionals who were eager to taste the new wines and discover the exotic flavours of the far away land.



A large table with food - a variety of cheese and cold cuts - offered a welcomed brake from the wine tasting and assured sobriety, since there was so much wine to taste and to enjoy!

SIAL 2018


SIAL Montreal 2018

This is the biggest international food event - a food trade show - that tales place in Montreal every second year. Every other year, it is hosted in Toronto.

This year, 50 countries participated in the show. There were 1,000 individual exhibitors spread over 240,000 square feet of exhibition floor space. The show welcomed 18,500 professional visitors. Each booth averaged 350 contacts.



The exhibitors came with a hope to establish contacts and make trade deals. All succeeded in making their products visible and appreciated. The show was the place to promote and to offer, to make contacts and deals.





The special focus this year was on cheese and microbrewery, as well as novelty beverages. A large attention was also allotted to meat and fish products and their culinary presentations. There were also oriental dumplings and teas, a great variety of olive oils, and myriads of other delectable foods including maple syrup, ice-cream, desserts, sweets, chocolate, candies and cookies, gourmet chips, coffee and many more products that tempted one'e eye and curiosity and brought an inevitable regret that it is just physically impossible to try to taste all them all.



The show also highlighted the innovative products, especially those which won some recognition by the jury and received awards. Olive oil category was especially prominent, and special tastings of the winners was available to all attendees.







Canadian and Quebec food companies occupied a large space of the exhibition floor, displaying many interesting products that enjoyed a great popularity.




SIAL Montreal was the place to discover Market Trends for 2018, and the latests trends and innovations in the food industry.
